WARHAMMER 40K SKIRMISH
During our warhammer 40K play sessions we have decided to implement a tournament structure based around skirmish rules for small-scale armies and to give players the opportunity to start playing the game correctly, and competitively but in a more casual environment. Running a small tournament will encourage players to play the game to the proper rules and construct useable armies, helping them to develop proper playing of the game, and give a better understanding of the rules.

Players will play one tournament game a week at either our Tuesday or Saturday (players that play at only one or the other session will not be paired together) gaming sessions and their results will be added to a monthly leader board with our monthly champion being announced at the end of each calendar month.

Once a player has played their weekly tournament game they may play a casual play match if there is time left in the session.
( A game should take around 45 mins)

Store staff will be available to help the players with all aspects of play from initial help with army list construction and how to add their points up, through to tactics and strategy help.
There are core rule books in the store which players may use to look up the rules of play however players will need to bring the relevant (current) codex for their army if using rules specific to their own army and not given in the main rule book. We do not have Codex to loan out.

  1. I used blood ravens for the first game of this campaign, and there was an amazing killing spree... by the other team!
my main army is tyranids, and my tactic with them is to use numbers more than monstrous creatures, so I tried this tactic with my blood ravens which didn't go so well against chaos.
    This is what I used:

A 10 man tactical squad (sergeant had no upgrades, one marine had a heavy bolter and one had a flamer)=170 points

A 5 man tactical squad (no upgrades)=90 points

    3 bikers (no upgrades)=90 points

A Rhino transport (had a hunter killer missile)=45 points

The 5 man squad was wiped out by a wave of chaos marines with bolt pistols and plasma pistols, the Rhino was blown up by a lucky melta shot (2 of the marines inside dying as a result), the bikers turbo boosted to the other side of the board to make the enemy have to choose individual squads to follow, and I was "persuaded" by a nearby ultramarine player to charge the 3 bikers into 11 chaos marines which no doubt ended badly, but there were no smaller squads to charge or shoot at.
By turn 6 the only thing I had left were 4 marines, one with a heavy bolter, but my enemy captured the energy sources instead of finishing me off, which although is unlikely for chaos, a wise decision.

Yeah... I think I might use my nidz in the next game lol.

  2. hehe, it was funny.(My tactics don't work for Josh)

Maybe I should not use a tank in the next one. Connor kinda lost by the luckiest roll ever. In order to win he needed to kill the last marine in a squad. Out of twenty shots he wounded once (expected from lasguns :P). As it was a marine I needed a 3+ on a D6, and as it was important, Connor asked everyone to be quiet. I was expecting to lose, as I normally do, but I was suprised to see I had gotten a 4. Earlier Connor admitted being defeated when my Predator destroyed his Sentinel with a lucky shot from the autocannon. When my bike squad assaulted his command squad they were already damaged, but held of the bikers long enough for his reinforcements to help take out the bikes. And now we end where we started, with the 20 shots on 1 marine.
